Employment Law Breakfast Seminar 19th March 2024

At our recent Employment Law Seminar, Sue Hatton, MD, guided us through a number of employment law changes, including;

  • Increased fines for employing illegal workers
  • Amendments to Paternity Leave Regulations 
  • New pay rates and minimum wage increases
  • Changes in protection from redundancy under the Pregnancy & Family Leave Act 
  • Revisions to unpaid leave provisions in the Carer's Leave Act 
  • Amendments to requests for flexible working under the Employment Relations Act
  • Updates on Employment Rights Regulations and TUPE transfers
  • The introduction of the Worker Predicable Terms and Conditions Act 
  • Employer obligations under the Worker Protection Act to prevent workplace sexual harassment
  • Holiday pay adjustments for irregular and part-time workers
  • The importance of calculating remuneration and holiday entitlements.

Sue also shed light on potential future changes based should there be a change in Government.

Joanna Robson, Employment Solicitor, walked us through various case law and the implications for businesses, covering;

  • Considerations regarding post termination restrictions and paid garden leave
  • How to use Settlement Agreements for amicable employer-employee separation
  • Strategies for managing grievance processes and handling serial complainers.

 

The seminar concluded with a round-up of HR top-tips to ensure fairness, legality and minimal business impact in managing employee relations.
