On Friday 9th December the team at Pickerings will be donning our Christmas sweaters in support of The Donna Louise Children's Hospice.
The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust was registered as a charity in 1999. It was set up to respond to the need for a children's hospice service for Staffordshire and Cheshire. The Trust offers a flexible service tailored to meet the needs of children and their families, both at home and in the hospice. The Charity takes its name from a young local girl, Donna Louise Hackney, who sadly died from a life threatening condition at the age of 16. As the fundraising for a purpose built hospice continued, a community nursing team was established in 2002 to provide care for children and their families in their own homes. By August 2003, the Hospice building was finished and fully-equipped and it opened its doors to families on August 4th 2003.
We hope to have a great day and raise lots of #doingmybit in a Christmas knit.
